9 Apps that will have your back during exam time

Exams can be harrowing for most students and especially distressing for me.  Whether one is in school or in college, exams are the one thing that can never stop getting behind your back. One thing  I have observed, during exam days, is that I want more sleep, more food, am more tired and also sicker. All these situations make exam time really tough and it’s like running a race against time from the minute the date sheet is out.

Chetan Shah, my friend from kindergarten, is obsessed with productivity. “I’m always trying to make the most of my time,” says the 18-year-old, from Bengaluru, while pacing up and down his room, to keep the step count going, on his Samsung Health App.“The months of February and March are the most difficult for me when sleepless nights and high cortisol levels make life so stressful”, says Chetan, on a Whatsapp call with me.

To achieve his goals, Chetan uses a combination of apps, hacks and wearable gadgets to help him pass through exams with good grades. Taking a cue from him, in this edition of school diaries, I’ve listed down a few apps that will help you sail through this exam season easily.

1. Dunzo

This app comes into effect when you suddenly realise that you don't have the right notes, for an important exam, the next day. Time is running short and you don't know how to get these notes. Phew, thank god, you can easily dunzo the notes. Just place the address and the name of the person from whom you want the notes from and the dunzo chappie will collect the material and deliver it to you. It’s just an amazing app that can be used during emergencies to deliver products and I find it most effective for these last-minute goof ups.

2. Evernote

Almost all of us have a habit of making notes during exams. Traditional ways of making notes are so passe. Who has the time to make paper flashcards and spend hours thumbing through textbooks anymore? New apps for your phone and laptop make it easy to access your notes across platforms at any time. Evernote is an app designed especially for note-taking, organizing, task management, and archiving. The app allows you to create notes, which can be text, drawings, photographs or saved web content and the best thing about it is that you can access it anytime.

3. Zomato

If food were a brand, I  would make a feisty ambassador for ZOMATO. To satisfy my exam time midnight cravings and keep my Emotional Quotient high, Zomato helps me to order anything from Chinese to Italian, to desserts and soft drinks- like shakes.  This app really helps you to keep up morale and help stay awake to study for long hours. Imagine studying all night and being rewarded by a Hot Chocolate fudge. Makes it worthwhile eh?

4. Word search

When my mind stops working and I need a break from the long hours of slogging,  how I love to play  Word Search, a crossword game where you are supposed to find as many words as possible in a given time limit. This game helps me to divert my mind and to keep calm and relax for a while. I play this game when I am stressed and somehow after a few senseless games, I regain the energy to get back to study

5. Spotify

As the name indicates this App is outright the best music streaming app there is. I personally feel that music is one of the best medicines to cure any or many panaceas. I put on my earphones and bingo and I can miraculously solve complicated maths or accounting problems. Spotify has all types of songs ranging from pop to Punjabi to motivational and is perfect to take breaks in between preparation time.

6. Byjus

Byjus is genuinely a very useful app. With interactive videos, online tutoring and doubt clearing sessions it’s all I need for the times I just can’t wrap my head around a topic. Their content ranges from class 1 to 12 and they even have material for entrance exams. Byjus is great for clearing your concepts and in developing a strong base in subjects like maths and science.

7. Sleep Count

During exams, our sleep cycle is in horrible condition. Sleep count is an incredible app that lets you monitor your sleep cycle and helps you plan out your day so that you can get better sleep.

8. Netflix

One of the most distracting apps according to parents but the most exciting one according to us. It’s okay to take a break for a few minutes during exams to finish that series. Now this provides a two-fold benefit as you can freshen up your mind and finally finish that show you’ve been thinking about for days.

9. Medlife

Students tend to take a lot of stress and during exams which at times leads to headaches or other health-related issues. In 3 easy steps, you can order any medicine and get it delivered to your doorstep at any hour of the day using Medlife. The Medlife blog is very insightful as well. Medlife is definitely my go-to doctor with easy tips for most problems ranging from headaches to stomach issues.

All the apps that we’ve discussed here today are very useful and should help you during exams. Remember exams should never be treated as a burden! Just do your best and face them with full enthusiasm and dedication, also try to have some fun and don’t get too stressed out. See you all in the next edition.
